To promote research, training and extension activities of the faculty staff, the Bureau of Socio-economic Research and Training (BSERT) was established in 1977. The Dean of the faculty is the Ex-Officio Chairman of the Bureau and Mr. M.A. Latif Mia is the Deputy Director. The Bureau is currently conducting quite a number of nationally and internationally funded research projects. The Bureau also provides research consultancy and advisory services for Government and Non-Government Organizations. The Bureau publishes half-yearly "The Bangladesh Journal of Agricultural Economics". It also publishes research reports and monographs based on the research projects completed by the faculty members. The Bureau has a number of computers for use by the teachers and students of the faculty. It also has a microbus to facilitate field research and study visits.
